Dimapur, September 7 (MExN): Based on specific information, Dimapur Police intercepted two trucks bearing registration number MN07C4140 and AS01GC0756 and seized 24000 packets of contraband cigarettes respectively from each truck worth over 60 lakh in the retail market.
According to Dimapur Police, two persons namely Md. Alimuddin and Babil Hussain were apprehended with the smuggled items. In this connection a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station.
Extortionist arrested
In another case, Dimapur police apprehended two persons namely Mughabeto Kiba and Anganba Zeliang, while extorting money from Auto goods carrier at Hongkong Market area Dimapur on September 7. Cash amounting to Rs 4300 and 6 numbers of extortion slip were also seized from their possession. In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station Dimapur.
On the same day, Dimapur police apprehended one person namely Akavi Awomi (33 yrs), Rank Tatar NSCN-K (Khango), P/A 5th Mile, Dimapur, while collecting yearly tax from a shop at GS road area, Dimapur. Cash amounting Rs 2000 was seized from his possession. In this connection a case has been registered at Sub Urban Police Station Dimapur.
