Dimapur Resolution on tax gains support

Dimapur, May 29 (MExN): The Central Naga Tribal Council (CNTC) today said it appreciates the move made by the Naga Council and civil society organisations against the rampant collection of tax by various organisation. A press note issued by Longshi Ezung, Publicity & Information Secretary CNTC and Imtinochet, Secretary CNTC stated, “Taxation is causing economic destabilization in Nagaland and the public are the ultimate victim of illegal tax. It is high time every citizen must voice out against such illegal taxation”. While applauding the move the CNTC stated that it extends full support on the initiative and also urged other civil organization to come forward and join in the initiative. 

The head office of the Nagaland Contractors’ & Suppliers’ Union (NCSU), Kohima today also extended its support to the Dimapur Civil Society resolution to pay “only one tax to faction and to stop all forms of collection, donation in the name of various organization.”  A statement by the NCSU Vice-President Ntsenthung Tungoe and Secretary, Hoshito Assumi pointed out that all such illegal taxes and collection directly affects the public economy. “This illegal taxes and collection not only affected business community but also extremely affect the general public,” it stated. The NCSU said it will give “full support and co-operation for the success of the ongoing resolution to be implemented in our soil and appeal to all the organizations and well wishes to come forward and join hands together for our better tomorrow.” While appreciating the step taken by the Dimapur Civil Society, the NCSU stated that in the “same manner it should be imposed to all the Districts in Nagaland.”
