Dimapur, July 30 (MExN): The Rotary Club of Dimapur has installed a high mast solar street light at the busy Murgi Patti-GS Road junction in Dimapur under a Rotary District Grant to improve road safety, enhance public security and promote the use of renewable energy.
The junction, one of the city's busiest commercial intersections, had long faced poor nighttime visibility, posing safety concerns for pedestrians, commuters, motorists and local businesses, the club said. Powered entirely by solar energy, the high mast light is expected to improve visibility while reducing dependence on conventional electricity, making the project both environmentally sustainable and cost-effective.
The club said the installation was completed after months of planning and coordination with the Power Department and the Dimapur Municipal Council. Despite several technical challenges, the project was successfully executed through sustained collaboration among the stakeholders.

The project was implemented during Rotary Year 2025-26 under the leadership of Club President Pankaj Kumar Jain and Secretary Vivek Kumar Jain with financial support from a Rotary District Grant and contributions from the club.
The Rotary Club also acknowledged the support of Past District Governor Chandu Agarwal for facilitating the district grant that enabled the project. The club said the installation reflects Rotary's commitment to its motto, "Service Above Self", and aims to create a safer, greener and more vibrant public space while demonstrating how community-led initiatives can deliver lasting local impact.
