Nagaland Transport, Civil Aviation & Railways Minister, P Paiwang Konyak today said that the 1st phase of the Dimapur-Dhansiripar to Kohima-Sechu rail line has been completed and the final phase is targeted to be completed by 2026.
Replying this to MLA Yitachu on the floor of the House, Paiwang stated that the Dimapur- Dhansiripar to Kohima-Sechu rail line is a national project and the project is being monitored by Prime Minister’s Office.
Yitachu drew the attention of the House to pressure the concerned authority to expedite the railway connectivity to state capital Kohima.
Paiwang stated that the vision the Government of India is to establish rail connectivity upto Moreh, Manipur.
He stated that the Shokhuvi Station, the 2nd rail station in Nagaland by inaugurated y Nagaland’s chief minister on August 26 this year.
With the commissioning of Shokhuvi Station, the state got the 2nd railway station after a gap of more than 100 years.
In the meantime, the minister stated that Dimapur-Dhansiripar to Kohima–Sechu rail line project was initially targeted to be completed by 2024. However, it was extended to 2026 due to delay in acquisition of land, heavy and long monsoon season and short working season, non-existence of approach road to the project site and the work was also affected by the lockdown imposed during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
