Dimapur: Workshop on Choir Conducting and Voice kick started

Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): An intensive workshop on Choir Conducting and Voice was inaugurated by H E Artis Bertulis, Ambassador of Latvia to India and Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland.

The 4-day workshop to be held from November 8-11, is organised by Task force for Music and Arts (TaFMA) in collaboration with Embassy of Latvia India. The workshop includes live performances, master classes, techniques, individual lessons, live choir sessions and others, and there will be final concert at RCEMPA Jotsoma on November 13.
H E Artis Bertulis acknowledged the state government for their cooperation, vision and support.

“We are building this long bridge of love for music and songs of the country of Latvia and Nagaland,” he said.

He also expressed admiration of the Nagas for their love for arts and music in particular. He shared that during his previous visit, they shared their future intention and aspirations, adding that, “and now we have put it into action.”

He further expressed that, young talents from remote areas need to get recognized at an early age.

Abu Metha also expressed gratitude to the Latvia government for believing in the Nagas and being friends of the Naga people. “Your presence here will motivate and be an aspiration to our people,” he added.

He also stated that Nagas will remember the solidarity that they extended during the pandemic.

Esmeralda Bertule stressed on the choral festival of Latvia and said that it is based on folk music and folk dance. She encouraged the choir to come and participate in Latvia and asked them to continue promoting the choral culture.
