DISHA Committee emphasize on proper implementation of CSS

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): Government departments have been asked to route proposals for through the ‘proper channel’ (Advisor/Minister) of the Chief Minister while initiating Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs) in the state.

Stating this during the state level DISHA Committee meeting on August 31, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio who is also the Chairperson of the Committee, advised the Departments to seek proper advice and briefing on various programmes implementation by the concerned Department. He mentioned about the Union Finance Minister’s comment during her CSR Conclave visit and apprised the department officials to work with utmost dedication, a DIPR report stated on Friday.

At the meeting which was held at the Chief Minister’s Office, CMRC, matters pertaining to the development activities of all the flagship programmes under the various departments in the State were discussed. 

Metsubo Jamir, Minister for Rural Development and Co-Chairperson of the Committee delivered the welcome address and encouraged the various departments to converge all the schemes for better cohesion, it said.

According to the report, S Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha and Committee Member, also spoke and emphasized that the benefits of all schemes should reach to the last person for whom it is targeted.

In the meeting, nine major departments namely, Social Welfare, School Education, Health & Family Welfare, Works & Housing, Rural Development, Agriculture, Urban and Municipal Affairs, Power and PHE highlighted their achievements covering FY 2021-22 and 2022-2023, and issues faced by the departments in the implementation of the CSS programmes. 

The Chairman urged the departments to bring to his notice any hurdle which requires his intervention for taking up the matter with the Government of India and also suggested that it should be informed to the two Members of Parliament of the State.

The meeting ended with vote of thanks from Neposo Theluo, Secretary, Rural Development Department and Member Secretary, State Level DISHA Committee, the report stated.
