District level Kala Utsav competition held across Nagaland

Dignitaries with winners of Mokokchung District level Kala Utsav competition held on October 15.

 

Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): District level Kala Utsav competition continued to be held in different districts across the state on October 15.


Under the District Education office, Wokha District Mission Authority, Samagra Shiksha (SS) organized district Kala Utsav on October 15 at Pangti Ekhumkho Ki.


Various competitions like vocal music, instrumental music, folk dance and painting competition for the Government High schools under Wokha was conducted. Five government high schools from different ranges, block and subdivision took part in the programme.


Assistant Mission Director, SS, State Mission Authority, Kohima, Chungngam Konyak while briefing the students said that Kala Utsav was a festival of art or talent initiated by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with an aim to promote arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students.


He said that its main emphasis was to hunt and explore talents and channelize them according to their potentials and create a platform for the students to pursue their formal education taking forward their gifted talents to make them responsible persons in whatever field they choose.


Konyak further informed that the winners of the various competitions will represent the district in the State level and further to National levels.


Prizes were given in two categories - boys and girls. In the vocal music competition, Yanbeni Z Kithanpvui of GHS Englan was adjudged the winner in girl’s category while Tsenpen Ngullie of GHS Sungro bagged the first prize. Zuthungo O Kikon and Zuchobeni Yanthan both from GHS Wokha Village won the folk dance competition.

Nzanthung Kikon and Zuchobeni W Kikon, both from GHSS Wokha won in the instrumental music category. In the painting competition, Rhonthungo Ngullie of GHS Sungro and Nzanti R Kithan were the winners.

 

Pfutsero: Pfutsero District level Kala Utsav was held at Pfutsero on October 15. Deputy Mission Director, SMA Samagra Shiksha, Timothy Thong, in his keynote address, said that Kala Utsav was an initiative to promote Arts in education by nurturing and showcasing the artistic talent of school students at the secondary stage of education.


The work was taken up by the erstwhile programme RMSA and now Samagra Shiksha, and it recognizes the importance of aesthetic and artistic experiences for secondary students. 


It sensitizes students in the elementary level about the rich tribal culture and traditions of the country, sated a DIPR report.
He informed that the Ministry has also started Rangotsav which is a festival aimed at promoting experimental learning and also making learning joyful experience by using arts in education.


He said the ultimate goal of this competition is to send the best talents in all the 4 categories to compete with the students from the rest of India at the National level Kala Utsav.

 

Mokokchung: Mokokchung District Level Kala Utsav Competition was conducted at Changtongya on October 15. Kelhikha Kenye, Assistant Mission Director SMA Samagra Shiksha Nagaland gave the introductory address of the competition.


Kenye highlighted the objective of the MHRD Government of India for introducing the Kala Utsav in 2015 to preserve the rich cultural heritage and diversity of the country by introducing art in education.


Kenye urged the students to recall the golden values such as honesty, integrity and hard work by which the ancestors lived and challenged them to embrace those values besides wearing the beautiful cultural attires.


The programme was organized by the District Mission Authority Samagra Shiksha Mokokchung.


The competition was conducted in four individual categories for boys and girls - vocal music, dance, instrumental music and paintings.


In vocal music, Zululemla from GHSS Tuli and Alemmeren from RC Chiten Jamir Memorial School Changtongya won in girls and boys category.


In instrumental music, Temsupokla from RC Chiten Jamir Memorial School Changtongya and Tsunren Walling GHSS Tuli won the competition.


In dance competition, Moanenla representing RC Chiten Jamir, Memorial School and Anyangba from the same school won the competition. In painting competition, Sentikumla Jamir from GHSS Tuli and Usepyanger from GHSS Tuli emerged as winners.


The winners will now represent the district in the state level competition in boys and girls category to be held on October 29.
