District Task Force meeting for NVBDCP on malaria elimination

Kohima, March 1 (MExN): The District Task Force meeting for National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) on malaria elimination in convergence with allied Department of Agriculture, Education, Fisheries and Social Welfare was held at DC chamber under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Gregory Thejawelie, IAS on March 1. 

A press release said that Dr Kevi Meyase, DVBO/DSO gave a presentation on Framework for Malaria Elimination in 2016-2030, as it was launch in the month of February 2016. He highlighted the important vision of the programme, citing that eliminate malaria and contribute to improved health, quality of life and alleviation of poverty. 

Under the programme, the goals is to attain zero indigenous cases in the District by 2022 and 2030 through-out the country, maintaining malaria-free status in areas where malaria transmission has been interrupted and to prevent re-introduction of malaria. He also informed the allied department present in the meeting that if need of advocacy coordination and partnership intervention to bring out maximal achievement of free malaria, the surveillance team will intervened as department has manpower in placed. Dr Meyase also highlighted on the last one year performance status.

In the second session, DPO (UIP/RCH), Dr Rupert Peseyie, gave a brief report of last event IPPI programme. The Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization was launched across the State on February 27 and two days house activity still on.

He highlighted on the upcoming programme of National De-Worming Day to be held on March 14-26, a gap of 7 days and Mop-up session to conduct and review the activity. For this event, there is an allied department convergence of education and social welfare department, where school going student will be looked after and out of school children will be cater by Social Welfare.

In this regard, DC Kohima mentioned that administrations are to come in for action so that implementation of activity can run smooth. He added that, at all level, the administration in each block under the district will coordinate during this on-going event. Relating to this, DC added saying that every concerned department should also come out with better notion to deal with the programmes. He also stress on the sample survey of State as every data is under DLHS. 

For better outcome of survey, DC Kohima also informed the house to target school children at government school. The DPO (RCH/UIP) responded that two groups of school health team are mandatory monitoring the private and government schools providing free screening and medication.
