Mokokchung, August 19 (MExN): The Mokokchung District TB Forum held a meeting at the Chief medical Officer’s conference hall, Mokokchung on August 18.
A press release from the office of the CMO on Saturday, informed that Dr Limatula Aier, CMO of Mokokchung delivered the welcome address and encouraged the attendees to have an interactive and productive meeting, keeping in mind the ultimate goal of eliminating Tuberculosis by the year 2025.
Dr Aonungdok, Deputy CMO gave an introduction on the formation and purpose of District TB Forum while Dr R Toshila Jamir, District Tuberculosis Officer, gave a presentation addressing the objectives of the TB Forum and its terms of reference.
Dr Jamir also highlighted on the National Strategic Plan 2017-25 for ending of TB in India as well as the commitments and aims of the Government of India to end TB by the year 2025 and achieve the goal of the ‘TB Harega Desh Jeetega’ campaign which was launched on September 25, 2019. She also presented a detailed statistical slide on the TB Scenario and achievement of the District, the release stated.
Longdiba L Sangtam, SDO(C), congratulated the DPO and team for achieving the highest district wise TB score for Nagaland for the January- June quarter. He further urged the District TB Forum to actively contribute in the elimination of TB by the year 2025 as proposed by the Government.
Further, Dr Medemmayang, President, Indian Medical Association Mokokchung, applauded the initiatives of the Government of India in tackling TB and making services available to the needy. He urged for the participation of multi stakeholders and various sectors, stating that health workers alone cannot fight to eliminate TB.
The attendees which included representatives from District Administration, CMO office, IMDH, TB Hospital, Care and Support Society and NMP+ further sat for discussion and resolution.
