Aboi, January 27 (MExN): The indefinite bandh demanding the declaration of Aboi ADC HQ as a full-fledged district continued for the 4th day on January 27, even as the Aboi District Demand Committee (ADDC) asserted that it would strive to accomplish the long dreamt demand “no matter what.”

The indefinite bandh will continue at Angjangyang SDO (C), Chen SDO (C), Longchang EAC Hq and Aboi ADC HQ until the declaration of Aboi District, stated a press release from the ADDC Media Cell.

Henceforth, no matter what, the Aboi public would strive to accomplish the long dreamt demand for establishment of a District Hq in the Konyak soil, it said.

Though normal life has been paralysed due the bandh, the Aboi public is ready to tolerate the same as the district demand has turned into a public movement despite the “stone-deaf attitude of the Government of Nagaland,” it added.

The public also urged the Konyak Union (Apex body) and 9 legislators from the district to ponder on whether creation of new District HQ would uplift the “downtrodden community” or should “we watch and wait when the whole world is moving ahead.”

The ADDC further pointed out that the Aboi district demand was initiated way back in 2008 during the leadership of the present Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio and he is well aware of the issue.

However, it charged him of adopting a “baseless and illogical” attitude and statement towards the vast population of Konyak.

When districts are created in rest of the state, why not Aboi, it further implied.

The ADDC also informed that before the declaration of other districts in December 2020, the committee personally met the Chief Minister at his official residence and urged to declare Aboi HQ as a district on December 17.

“But the ADDC is shocked and questioned his leadership for drawing lines within the Nagas community,” it added.

The ADDC further reminded the Government of Nagaland that its demand is supported by all neighboring districts, tribes and Konyak Union (Apex Body) “unanimously” and the “State Government cannot give “layman excuses while the whole process is clear from our end.”

To this end, the ADDC stated that the public would continue the indefinite bandh until the Government of Nagaland fulfill their demand and declare Aboi as the 17th district of Nagaland.
