Kohima, November 3 (MExN): The Governor of Assam & Nagaland, Prof Jagdish Mukhi on the occasion of Diwali brought greetings to the people of Nagaland.

“This festival signifies victory of light over darkness, good over evil, truth over falsehood and knowledge over ignorance. Decorating homes and office premises with colours mark the celebrations. It gives an opportunity for the people to spend time together and foster good relationships in the family, workplace and society,” the Governor said in his message.

“On this auspicious occasion, may the spirit of the festival guide us from darkness to light. May you all be blessed with good health, joy and prosperity,” he conveyed.

The NPCC President, K Therie also conveyed greetings from the rank and file of NPCC to the Hindu community, “as the celebration of Deepawali dawns on us.”

Therie said, “Just as the illumination of the occasion celebrates the eradication of dark shadows and evil, may we introspect and illuminate our inner selves with the true spirit of Deepawali to drown out all darkness of sin and evil. During this joyous celebration of triumph of good over evil, may we restrain from promoting evil social elements and recommit to uphold the true spirit of democracy, justice and equality.”

“May the celebrations also usher in joy, good health and prosperity,” he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland and BLP leader Y Patton also greeted the people on the occasion of Diwali.

Patton said that the festival of lights is celebrated throughout the world by lighting the homes and streets and also fireworks display which is done with much fun and fervor. Due to environmental and health issues concerning fireworks, the Dy CM appealed the people to use caution and rather find better ways to celebrate.

On behalf of the state BJP legislators, the Dy CM wished everyone a happy Diwali and prayed for peace and prosperity.
