Kohima, October 27 (MExN): Justice LS Jamir, Judge, Gauhati High Court and Executive Chairman of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) handed over awards to the best District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) and best Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) for 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 during the valedictory session and commendation ceremony of the three-day Refresher Training for PLVs at the Directorate of State Institute of Rural Development here on October 27.
The best DLSA 2017 was awarded to Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA), while the best PLV 2017 was awarded to Bendangsenla Jamir of Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority. The 2017 winners were awarded with laptops provided by Department of Justice and Law Nagaland, memento and certificate, according to a press release.
The best DLSA 2016 went to Kohima District Legal Services Authority, the best DLSA 2015 was bagged by Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority, and the best DLSA 2014 was won under the Chairman, Y. Longkumer, District and Session Judge and Secretary, Ajongba Imchen, Civil Judge. They were awarded with memento and certificate.
Meanwhile, the best PLV 2016, Yemlong Chaba of Tuensang District Legal Services Authority, the best PLV 2015, NK Keny of Dimapur District Legal Services Authority, and best PLV 2014, Rampauyi Ndang of Peren District Legal Services Authority were also awarded with memento and certificate.
Delivering the valedictory address, Justice LS Jamir urged the PLVs to adopt a girl child in providing assistance for opening saving account in postal department. He exhorted the PLVs to go back to their respective districts and spread awareness and assist the common people with what they have learnt from the training.
Nino Iralu, Member Secretary NSLSA and Special Judge TDP Vigilance Commission apprised that the best DLSA 2017, TDLSA, could deliver services from NALSA scheme 2015 and 2016, worked in coordination with District Administration and police and could effectively carry out monthly action plan with Chairman, Secretary, 3 Panel Lawyers, 46 PLVs and 26 Legal Aid Clinics.
She informed that the best PLV 2017 rescued destitute women, victims of domestic violence, helped the old and needy, assisted person with disabilities and worked in coordination with the District Legal Services Authority.
The PLVs from 11 districts shared what they learned from the training.
