DLSAs conduct legal awareness progs and visitations

Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA), Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority (MDLSA) conducted legal awareness programmes, while Kiphire District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) and Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) visited OST centers, observation home and district jail.  

Zunheboto: ZDLSA organized legal sensitization programme for district Dobashis at DC conference hall, Zunheboto on August 19.  

Neichochiyi Suyie, District and Session Judge and Chairman ZDLSA delivered keynote address, while short speeches were delivered by Vekhoyi Chakesang, Additional Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto and Relo Aye, Additional Superintendent of Police, Zunheboto.  

Tovi Z. Yeptho Retainer Lawyer ZDLSA Spoke on Nagaland Village Council Act 1978 and Rule of Administration of Justice and Police in Nagaland 1937. J. Khetoholi Yepthomi, Public Prosecutor Zunheboto spoke on the role of Dobashis in the district for the benefit of the citizens.  

Superintendent of Observation Home Zunheboto, Aolemla Imsong also highlighted briefly the functions of observation home and emphasized the need for District Dobashis to sensitize the citizens in various fields and in assisting the law-enforcing agency while encountering with child in conflict with law.  

Mokokchung: MDLSA organized legal awareness programme for drug abuse and eradication of drug menace at Care Counseling Center, Mokokchung on August 19. Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary MDLSA, Phuleto Yepto highlighted the court based facility and welfare schemes to the users. Imkong Jamir, Retainer Lawyer MDLSA spoke on different NSLSA schemes and legal services to the victim of drug abuse and eradication of drug menace. Highlighting NALSA scheme 2015 (legal services to the victims of drug abuse and eradication of drug menace), he urged the users to be a role model in the society. This was followed by interaction session.  

Kiphire: KDLSA team led by Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary KDLSA, Mezivolu T Therieh with Retainer lawyer KDLSA, Likase and APP KDLSA, Sentila Aier visited observation home on August 16 and interacted with the lone juvenile in conflict with law, the official and the family members of the juvenile.  

The following day, the KDLSA team visited OST (Opioid Substitution Therapy) center in Kiphire Town and interacted with the officials and OST users.  

he team noted that according to the monthly report, there are four clients formally transferred to other OST centers, 42 clients on treatment, 30 clients currently receiving OST from the centers, 17 clients receiving medicines for 25 or more days, 4 clients receiving medicines for 15-24 days, 9 clients receiving medicine for less than 15 days and 12 expected OST clients who did not receive OST or even one day during the reporting month.  

Service update cumulative is 121, cumulative OST up to date is 118, treatment complete is 18, death is 10, migration is 43, transferred is 4, regular clients in OST is 30, LFU (lost to follow up) is 13 and re-entered in OST is 1.  

Tuensang: Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) team members led by Judicial Magistrate First Class and Secretary, N Kano visited District Jail Tuensang on August 12. The Jail Superintendent and Assistant Jailor were also present during the visit. At present, there are 16 inmates and with the assistance of the jailor the TDLSA members interviewed all the 16 under trial prisoners. Six cases were endorsed to panel lawyers for free legal aid.  

Kohima: Kohima Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) set up legal literacy club with 20 members at Legal Aid Clinic, Kohima College on August 18.  

Longleng: Longleng District Legal Services Authority (LDLSA) distributed prizes on August 19 to the winners of essay competition on fundamental rights and duties at Vision Vale School which was conducted on July 22. Henau bagged the first prize, Khamang second prize, and Duklung third prize.
