Dimapur, AUG 18 (MExn): The Dimapur Municipal Council has decided to revoke the Trade Licence of Madan Sharma, the proprietor of Maruti Motors. The cancelled Trade Licence Number bears the number 244/2002. A decision to this effect was reached upon by the DMC in its Board Meeting held today.
The municipal body has revoked the said trade Licence on the grounds that the proprietor, Madan Sharma, was involved in unscrupulous activities and that he was selling inferior quality spare parts to customers.
A press release issued by the Chairman of the DMC, Y Vikheho Awomi stated that such a move had been undertaken ‘in the best interests of the public who should not be held to ransom by such unscrupulous individuals.’
It may be mentioned that Sharma had earlier been implicated in a case wherein some NSCN-IM cadres had reportedly assaulted two local youth on his instigation. In the aftermath of the incident, various social organizations had demanded the revocation of Sharma’s trade licence. They had also demanded that the erring cadres be brought to book.
