Dimapur, October 31 (MExN): Several people were arrested in Dimapur recently for extortion, thefts, and other crimes.
On October 24, one 18-year-old was arrested for pick pocketing a passenger at Dimapur Railway Station. Cash amount of Rs. 8000/- was recovered from his possession, informed a press release from Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur. In this connection, a case has been registered at Dimapur GRPS and further investigation is on. With regard to a vehicle theft case registered at Sub-Urban PS (SBN) on October 24, Dimapur Police arrested two persons identified as Atsu Yimchunger (30) and Md. Enamul Hussain (25).
Meanwhile, Dimapur Police Special Operation Team (SOT) on October 26 seized 31 packets of suspected ganja from a vehicle bearing registration number WB-57C-7973 (Tata) at 5th Mile near Faith Petrol Pump. In this connection, two persons identified as Nyam Sheik (31) and Rabial Sheik (27) were apprehended. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
On October 27 about 2:00 pm, Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone–II arrested one person, Alok Dutta, for collecting yearly tax of Rs.500/- from a paan shop at New Market, Dimapur in the name of NSCN (R), the press release said. A case has been registered at Dimapur West PS and investigation is on, it was informed.
Further on October 27 around 4:30 pm, Dimapur Police Special Operation Team (SOT) apprehended one person identified as Mughabeto Aye (27) for extorting money from business community and auto drivers at Murgipatti area, Dimapur. According to the PRO, 6 numbers of demand slips and cash amount of Rs. 1800/- were seized from his possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Dimapur East PS for further investigation.
Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone-II also apprehended one Atoka Chishi (28) for issuing information slip to business establishments in the name of NSCN (R) on October 29. The following items were recovered from his possession: One .32 pistol with live rounds, two numbers of information slips, and cash amount of Rs. 3210/-, the release said. In this regard, a case has been registered at East PS for investigation.
