Kohima, April 10 (MExN): Divisional Management Unit (DMU) Kohima under the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) held its Annual Review Meeting on April 10 at the Conference Hall, Forest Office Complex, Kohima.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Sevono Seletsu, DFO and DMU Head Kohima, said that the Annual Review Meeting is a time “to reflect on the works that have been undertaken over the years at different project villages.” She stated that the project aims to improve forest cover and urged Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) members to work collectively to meet the objectives.
On livelihood improvement, she encouraged JFMC members to identify income generation activities for self-help groups with a focus on value addition to strengthen economic livelihood. She also called on JFMC members of Batch IV villages to actively take up plantation activities, stating that “sincere participation and sustained efforts in afforestation initiatives are essential for improving forest cover, restoring ecological balance, and ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.”
Yhuntilo Kent, Range Forest Officer and Field Management Unit Head, Tseminyu, and Savinuo Kikhi, Range Forest Officer and Field Management Unit Head, Chiephobozou Range, presented reports on project activities in their respective villages. DMU support staff also presented on SHG livelihood activities, photo points, and monitoring, evaluation and convergence activities under DMU Kohima.
Akho Phira, FNGO team leader, presented on activities undertaken by the FNGO in project villages.
JFMC members from Batch I, II, III and IV attended the meeting and shared their experiences, stating that the project has made a positive impact on their communities.
The programme was chaired by Menovono Zhasa, Field Coordinator, FNGO, while Vilboubeinuo, Supervisor, FNGO, invoked God’s blessing. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Kevisenuo Nancy Belho, Accounts Assistant, DMU Kohima.
