The Diphupar Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) held its 1st Bendangnungsang Longkumer & Er. Khriesavizo Metha Memorial Awards function at Diphupar Village Local Ground on Thursday. Late Bendangnungsang and Late Khriesavizo died during the January 31, 2017 incident at Dimapur during the protest against Urban Local Bodies election.
Speaking at the programme, Diphupar Village Council, Chairman, Ghuzui Shohe recounted how the two persons from the village lost their lives. He expressed the hope that their sacrifice would not go in vain but bring positive result for the people.
Representing the Joint Coordination Committee, Vekhosayi said it was a “great loss” for the Diphupar village to have lost precious lives but added that the Naga people regarded the two as “heroes.” “Till today, we have not achieved our goal but we will not leave any stone unturned until our rights and goals are achieved,” he said. He appealed the government to take the ULB issue seriously.
A family member of Lt Bendangnungsang expressed the hope that the sacrifice made by the two would bridge the gap among the Naga people. A family member of Lt Khriesavizo urged the people to grab the opportunity for Nagas to unite for common goal.
