DNSU on sales of gutkas, tobacco products in Dmp

Dimapur, April 29 (MExN): The Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) today expressed its “astonishment” over the alleged supply of gutkas and tobacco products by dealers stationed at an area “sealed and declared as quarantine zone” by the District Administration in Dimapur.
The Union in a press release claimed that it caught some retailers/wholesaler outside the zone who “have admitted the same on enquiry that they are getting the items from inside the quarantine area” in Marwaripati.
It further noted that some dealers are taking undue advantage by selling gutkas and other tobacco products at a very “exorbitant rate at their whims and wishes.”
In this regard, the DNSU cautioned those dealers/suppliers/retailers to abstain from such activities.
It further appealed the District Administration and Police personnel on duty to strictly monitor such activities.
“On failure to take the corrective measures, DNSU will be compelled to take its own course of action as deemed fit and proper,” it added.
“Gutkas/tobaccos are not essential commodities and that selling of gutkas itself is strictly prohibited as per the directive of the Central Government during this lockdown,” maintained DNSU in the release issued by its Media Cell.
