DIMAPUR : The Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) has warned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to improve its services, redress the grievances of cellular consumers and present a ‘transparent explanation’ on or before 31 August, failure for which the students’ body would resort to its own course of action.

In a statement issued by DNSU President Obed Yimchunger and General Secretary Meijiang Gonmei, The DNSU served an ultimatum to the cellular service-provider to immediately redress the grievances of cellular consumers stating that in a time when consumer-based firms were emphasizing on quality services, the BSNL had utterly failed to meet the expectations of consumers in Nagaland.

Slamming the firm for poor mobile connectivity, insufficient landline connections, frequent disruptions of telephone lines etc the body stated that the poor service provided by the company spoke volumes of the indifferent attitude of the BSNL towards its consumers.

While observing that discrepancy in the billing system had become regular and in the process consumers were being harassed while rectifying the faulty bills. It demanded that the BSNL come out publicly with proper bill-statements and assure consumers of the measures taken to correct the faulty bills.

The DNSU further accused the BSNL of indulging in xenophobic activities. It questioned the frequent disruption of telephone connections in the four Naga-dominated hill districts of Manipur, namely Senapati, Chandel, Ukhrul and Tamenglong.

The release further cited instance of disrupting telephone lines in all the four hill districts by the BSNL ‘in connivance with the Manipur Government’ when the indefinite economic blockade imposed on the National Highways 39 and 53 by the All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) was on.

Stating that enough was enough and demanding that all “these manipulative ploys against the innocent Nagas” be stopped once and for all, the DNSU warned that it would not be held responsible for any untoward incident arising out due to the failure on the part of the BSNL to redress the grievances of the cellular consumers in Nagaland.
