Do you agree that the foremost task of the new government is to ensure good roads, provide continuous electricity and supply safe water?

Some of those who voted  YES had this to say:

•    Yes, they can and they will. Wait and see. The time will tell. God bless the new legislators.
•    Yes, the new government must, first of all, provide basic amenities or infrastructures vital to the people. The proper implementation of these basics will be the first step towards holistic development.
•    Yes. Absolutely agree… and its been long overdue, but do THEY agree? Health and quality education should also be in the list.
•    Yes, they are the main needs for development.
•    Yes, the foremost task of the new government should be to ensure good roads, continuous electricity, and supply of safe water but it looks like the elected members have forgotten these things after the elections. These things are not mentioned in the recently published agenda of the forthcoming DAN government.
•    This should be done on war footing...unless the basic needs of the people are not met how can we ever think of "Peace and Development"
•    Yes, All these are survival basics!
•    Yes, yes, yes, we have very low expectations from our ‘elected’ MLAs. But inspite of being one of the older states of India we still lack these basic needs. Before God and history corrupt politicians, agents, officials and unscrupulous votes will answer. Because of some few the majority (whose mouths are not soiled by govt cakes) are greatly suffering and please stop fooling us with promise of “political settlement.” What right have we now after this too enthusiastic involvement in elctions.
•    Absolutely Yes! Our progress in all fields all depend on these infrastructures to be set properly... Roads to connect us for increasing our economy, to access better health facilities at a shorter time, to connect with remote areas where hidden gems may be, to have visitors who will contribute to our economy, power to sustain all the industries we can set up and to tolerate the different weather conditions too, good water supply so health is good, and we have enough to cover all our daily needs and more. We need many things but once these are set in, we can hope for other things to follow... But as importantly is Sanitation!!! Recycling programs are a must whether it is perishable waste or not and of course sewage and waste water must be treated for other purposes too.....
•    Definitely yes! any good government must ensure that at least these basic needs of the people are met. i hope the govt this time will have a mind to make developments for the sake of the people!
•    Yes.... electricity the basic and foremost need of the hour.
•    Rasta, bijli, paani.......are we too late in asking for these basics at least?? I don't want an empty world class cricket stadium, nor a swimming pool restricted to the elite; give me my basics, at the least, the rest will follow naturally.
•    yes. but it is also the duty of the government to ensure that the raise of gap between the haves and have not, as we witness today in Naga Society, be diminished.
•    these are the basic amenities....of course 100% its their responsibility to re-instate the faith & expectation.
•    yes, because first of all they will show their cute faces and all...but Later on...all our central money will be gone...;) just disappear.
•    Yes, the reason is that infrastructure holds the key to development in every sector.
•    Yes, firstly the 3 basic amenities... then only can we have real road shows, electrifying carnivals, and perhaps, add safe water to the already adulterated alcohol!!
•    Yes, these are basic needs; this is 2013. How can a people develop without the most fundamental requirements being met.

Some of those who  voted NO  had this to say:

•    No, the foremost task of the new government by NPF led DAN is to bring peace, should treat equal to all the tribe mostly to the minority, should reach out every scheme to the public like old age, BPL ration card, sanitation and other medical facilities, the 60 MLAs should work hard to end ‘isms.’ Only proper road and electricity is not a development, they should make people developed first by providing various public schemes and public safety which is a big problem creating by anti-social activist.
•    I am totally disagreeing the statement because until and unless the ruling change there wont be any change in Nagaland because all the leaders are only thinking of their own livelihood. (Hope our leaders will read our opinion if they care for our corrupted Nagaland).
•    No! Dy wil try first to recovr da money which dy spend on election
•    Very sorry the new govt. can't bring any astonish infrastrature, n better 2 demolish ta Doyang hydro dam coz we can't tolerate ta agony.
•    ever they will continue like past years because they are  stomach is very big  they are thinking only to fill their bag !
•    i dnt thk so..coz n 10 yrs dy can ble 2 to nythng so within 5 yrs 8s impossible..f naga realy need ol ds dn gav another 40 yrs..
• Sam goverment $am persn no uplifmnt will don  in nagalnd we dnt hop 4 anythg tis tim als..tis pple r selfiz gredy kanjus thy devlop only 4 thm self n 4 thir fmily tad's wat we hop 4...we 1 to meet thm heaven...lol.
• Never they will continue like past years they are thinking for their stomach!!!
• No,what to expect from the Govt.when even the elected legislators are alloted protfolio not on the basis of their performance and merit but truly on alienation, bias attitude and greed..

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

• Hhuh all these are out of their minds and work now because these factors were used by them just to lure the masses to draw their precious votes. Don’t believe them at all.
•    Promises were being made long time back…did we see any sign of improvement. Yeah we did see initially…but years after no one cares to remember.. all they care about is buying lands, cars, etc. in short development for themselves!
•    Naga Political Issue cannot be sidelined. No doubt the above issues are important humans basic needs in this 21st century.
•    Last ten years ....only few development . So atleast another 15 years is needed for all round development in nagaland.
•    Gonna be a loooooooong wait.
•    Apart from those i want ''UNITY'',''LOVE'',''PEACE''
•    All lies! From Naga issue to Youth Empowerment upto good standard of living. Where are the achievements?
•    Please dont do corruption and just do what is right! This is what we ask for progress and development.
•    Public sold their votes at wholesale rate. No point talking about development unless the general public mentality changes. We need to tell the voters to stop selling their votes if we want a better Nagaland.
•    One of problem with our political culture is that majority of the citizens are so dependent on political and bureaucratic class for their livelihood, children education and employment( from lower- middle class to people in the higher echelon of society) that it would be difficult to see change in our voting behavior. We have to move from a society depended on center's/government charity and try to progress to a more entrepreneur driven society. Till we make this transition THEY will buy us below our DIGNITY and WE will SELL our VOTE (RIGHTS) and DIGINTY.
•    Basing on the last ten years performance, the basic amenities like road, water and electricity no longer holds importance but the stadiums, parks and festivals have replaced those items.
•    the new govt doesn't need a Hubble telescope to look for answers. Just open their eyes and see the condition of roads, electricity, unemployment etc to cite a few and find the ANSWERS.
•    Education sector, health sector and infrastructural development.
•    Probably a1000 crores of rupees has been spent during the recent election. The Voters have sold their votes and now it's time for the elected members to recoup their monies, enlarge their coffers and be ready with more money for the next election. Unless this vicious cycle is broken, don't expect any development. Let's be satisfied with dust and mud and go for Mission Pot-holes again.
