DO YOU SEE ME: LFI hosts consultative workshop on learning disabilities

DIMAPUR, JUNE 15 (MExN): A one-day consultative workshop on Learning Disabilities was held at Livingstone Foundation International on June 14 under the theme ‘Do You See Me.’

The workshop was jointly organized by Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-being and the Office of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Nagaland in collaboration with Livingstone Foundation Society and Breeze Women Welfare Association (BWWA).

The workshop was moderated by social activist, Vitono Haralu (Gugu) as the chairperson Welcome address was delivered by Lovitoli Awomi, Chairman of Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-being which was followed by a short message from Ashe Kiba on behalf of the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Government of Nagaland.

Key highlights of the workshop included a discourse entitled ‘Learning Disabilities in Psychological Perspective’ by Rev Dr Fr Joe Mariadhas, Director, Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Chümoukedima, a talk on ‘Specific Learning Disabilities’ by Dr Y Simpson, HoD, Department of Paediatrics, CHISR, words of encouragement from Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema, Chairman, Livingstone Foundation International, ‘Role of Special Educators’ by Kopele Tepa, Special Educator & Headmistress of Bumblebee Inclusive School, Kohima and experience sharing by parents of children with learning disabilities by N. Achiba Ozukum followed by discussion hour.

Earlier, the resource persons, special guests and invitees along with media persons were felicitated with mementoes and appreciation certificates by the Chairman of LFI, Dr Andrew Ahoto Sema and the Chairman of Lapiye Centre for Mental Well-being, Lovitoli Awomi.
