Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• Yes for the young fellow who will be the voice of the youth. Communication gaps due to generation gaps will no longer act as a mental block. Felt funny when the allocation was questioned by disgruntled oldies. Its high time that appropriate portfolios be allotted to age groups, gender etc. We should march boldly towards positive revolutionary changes.
• Portfolio allocation is fair. Puppets and pawns have no choice. Saw it all coming. Wishing all disgruntled cream portfolios in DAN-IV. Now I know what political power and money power can do in a society divided between and amongst themselves. This was how people and nations were subjugated and enslaved in colonial times. No offense intended please. Looking forward to DAN-IV. Something is better than nothing as also is very true of the saying, where there is no vision, people perish.
• Yes. There may be dissatisfaction and discontentment but its a universal truth that it is hard to please everybody. Instead of discontentment over the portfolios, they should start working in earnest. There is a lot to be done and it has been already been a week!!!
• There are groups of people complaining about it being unfair, however if we look at it without any biased opinion , it has been done in such a way that all the districts are well represented . And its a good thing that tribalism wasn't their agenda.
• Yes, Power comes but with responsibility, so the decision made is absolutely clean and transparent, time will decide who have been faithful.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• No, totally biased. Its an open secret that allocation is particularized to an extreme nature. Say, for an instance being same blood, then top bureaucrats influence, also political father and so on. As usual we turn a blind eye to this habitual offenders doing, giving unlimited encouragement to them. One big question that still keeps on pricking our conscience is ‘NSA’ is booked for underground cadres only or is it for all the people who is caught with arms illegally? Anyway there is a big “BUT” for at this stage in Nagaland when ‘YOU’ have the ‘MONEY’ you have the ‘MIGHT’ and the ‘POWER’ to do anything. It’s a big regret for all the inconvenience we are going to face but what to do, this is all our doing. We are all blowing with the wind of corruption, so scared to stand up for the truth. Generally, its our elders and church leaders who are the worst. Pitiful!
• Not at all, the allocation of NPF led DAN is not in a fair manner because Yitachu must be cabinet but he has given the vetinary and animal husbandry. Also you see the situation of former home minister he has given resignation but it is rejected. Corruption even among parties. All the best in your next election.
• No, if all are made CM all will take it as fair.
• It is 100% not fair because all are made at money as it has an evil effect on people. I beg all the VIPs (Very Irritating Persons) of Nagaland to not be unfair in everything in this 5 years of ruling.
• No, it divided more n more on tribal line.
• No, allocation of portfolio shows clear pictures of a non people friendly government. it is totally unbalance and bais..where in some districts which constitutes lakhs of population is represented by lone minister or parliamentary secretary with miniature portfolio where as some districts with few thousands population are represented with plum cabinet portfolio, parliamentary secretaries and a speaker..this mode of arrangements is completely unethical and unjustified..
• No, it’s a govt of some particular tribe which will crumble down in six month time.
• Absolutely not. We dont need a cabinet minister who used guns to be head of Health and family welfare for god's sake. Apart from that CM did s… up everything to deliver Urban development to a candidate who is rarely seen in dat constituency.
• No, we nearly witnessed anarchy.CM should be wise enough to consult party members. Finance portfolio is always his for the taking and our state has huge depts. God Save Us.
• No. In general, fairness and justice have gone clean out of Nagaland window. Greedy and unethical party workers played immense role here. Some senior and areas clearly neglected at expense of fresh, tainted (former HM) and threatening candidates. How long can you buy your way through?
• Not fair. But I don’t think any other govt could have done better. What is very disturbing is open and brazen lobby for fat portfolios. This kind of open robbery was unknown in our Naga culture. We are sliding down and fast.
• Na..Na.. damn s….! So un-fair. Just in short, are the leaders so bold enough to do kind of unfair things? Shame…shame…shame…
• Sorry. Not fair as we Nagas made a very blunder decision by giving another chance to Dan govt. For DAN its not a party party politics but a family politics. Portfolio allocation. Let the people ask this question to Chief Secy, Sr. Advisor to CM and some of CM cabinet ministers.
• No, Some are enjoying too much where as some not given to help their people.
• No, we can say it isn't fair because seniors/ experienced candidates have been overlooked while cabinet berths have more or less, being allotted to 'yes-man' as well as 'politicised' and 'influenced' ones under well-crafted guises. We are, otherwise, also clear that everyone has shortcomings and in such a critical decision and allocation processes, there is every chance to get carried away... However, one may also be optimistic and look forward to changes or so-called rotational based ministership or even some better adjustments in the future.
• Big portfolios hidden or fragmented, every department has to be hold by a best possible person available which will be beneficial for the public for which the departments are created for, which was not done judiciously, in experience factor also overlooked for the reason that they have enough numbers, vital portfolios like Finance, which needs special attention are held by CM one of the busiest among all, like wise supply department as well. I totally disagree in portfolio distribution as it is without any criteria.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• Even if we agree or disagree, what benefit would we derive. Only wish...the concerned portfolio holders don’t end up 4 surgeries after surgeries......
• "Government is not the solution it is the problem"
• We'd voted them to power (npf), so why should we poke our nose in their victory and their ultimate decision in portfolio distribution. Pray and just hope for the best! Anticipating another five years of grumbling.
• it is good to grumble... imagine if we all get complacent and always except things the way it is, what sorry lives we would have! It is because people complain at least a little bit of adjustments and developments are done... after all, we elect them and when we do not like things we should be able to voice... that is democracy isn't it?
• at the same time i can't help but feel like its a tussle for sweets at the candy shop. I hope our state leaders will become more sincere and responsive to the responsibility placed over them under the state government. That would be a very positive start for all of us.
• It's good to voice our genuine resentments at times in complaints or whichever is applicable to the said period. That's because human beings that we are, we intentionally or unintentionally neglects, even forgets our duties and this stands true with leaders too.
• Am also, therefore, of the opinion that we must complain, though sensibly. After all, they say the squeaking wheel gets the grease!
• Others. While there may be understandable dissatisfaction with the recent post and portfolio allocation, the thinking that the responsibility of the elected representative to serve or perform well/better is dependent on his being allocated only certain post/portfolio(s) need not be given the overriding importance. Also, a particular post or portfolio need not be seen through the narrow lens of one's own constituency, district, region, tribe, and other limiting considerations. Unless otherwise expressly earmarked for a specific region, every post/portfolio is mandated to include and cover the whole of our state.
• I think it's fair and unfair at the same time. Some members from DAN 2 have done an impeccable job and thus deserving in their new portfolios allocated to them. The Road and Bridge Ministers word seems promising. But the former Home Ministers portfolio should have been kept abay with the controversy surrounding his malpractice in recently held election. Lastly, ministerial berth to a new and the youngest entrant seems unqualified even though our respectable CM has kept the need for younger generation to play a major role in the working of the Government. The Present Government has enough young leader with more Administrative experience.
