Don Bosco Alumni mourns demise of Rev. Fr. John

Dimapur, January 26 (MExN): Don Bosco Alumni Dimapur Provincial Federation condole the demise of Rev. Fr. John Med sdb. The association has conveyed its deepest sympathy to the bereaved relatives, friends, well-wishers, students and the Salesian Family stated a condolence note issued by provincial secretary, Don Bosco Alumni Dr.stephen Kamson.
It stated that late Rev. Fr. John Med was a missionary par excel lance, leaving the comfort of his sweet home at the tender age of 17 years to give his life for the missions in India. He was born on April 13, 1916 in the Czec Republic; made his first religious profession on July 31, 1934 and was ordained a priest of the Catholic Church in the Salesian Congregation on January 7, 1943.  He was the first director of the first seminary in Tirupatur and the first rector of the Don Bosco College in India at Tirupatur. He was provincial of the Salesian Society for entire South India till he volunteered to come to work in the North East in 1965 and reached Manipur in 1978. During the period of his dedicated religious life spanning over 77 years, late Rev. Fr. John med sdb served the people of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland and Manipur. He is most loved by the people of Senapati district in Manipur where he pioneered the centre in Senapati. He is remembered, loved and revered as a teacher, benefactor, musician, Salesian superior,  novice master,  pioneering missionary and more so as a friend to all. Till date he has been benefactor to many poor students and even today there are 900 children whose education he was assisting by offering scholarships. His demise is an irreparable loss to all. “May God give him Eternal Rest,” it said.
