Don Bosco College Kohima holds 9th Gratitude Day

Keyiesetuo Stephen Vizo, Governing Body Member, Don Bosco College, Kohima.

Kohima, April 13 (MExN): Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) organised its 9th Gratitude Day at the college premises in honour of the outgoing 6th semester students on April 13.

The event was graced by special invitee Dr Keyiesetuo Stephen Vizo, Governing Body Member, Don Bosco College, Kohima. Addressing the gathering, Dr Vizo urged the graduates to reject the notion that they already know everything, stressing that “learning is a continuous process.” He also called upon the students to focus on self-reliance and building independent livelihoods to ensure long-term security and success.

Fr Dr Tious Varghese, Principal, DBCK, praised the outgoing students for their successful academic career and urged them to live by the college motto “Duty and Joy,” while encouraging them to carry a spirit of service and integrity into their future endeavours.

Speaking on behalf of the faculty, Dr Lanukumla Ao, Assistant Professor, Department of History, expressed gratitude to the 6th semester students for their energy and curiosity over the past three years. She emphasised that success is measured by character rather than grades and urged students to carry the Bosconian values of integrity and compassion into the world.

Speaking on behalf of the outgoing students, Tühafi Sharu of the Department of Botany recalled their three-year journey that transformed nervous strangers into a unified family. She thanked the faculty for guiding students through every challenge and said that while they were physically leaving, they depart with unbreakable bonds and the lasting values of their alma mater.

A highlight of the programme was the “Carry Your Candle” ceremony, led by Fr Mattam Xavier, symbolising the passing of knowledge, hope and responsibility as students lit candles and received blessings from their department faculty.

A performance on gratitude was also presented by Elizabeth of the Department of English (2nd Semester).

The programme was chaired by Thangle Kath (4th Semester, Department of History). The invocation was offered by Phivito Swu (4th Semester, Department of History) and the vote of thanks was proposed by Ravono Chasie (4th Semester, Department of Psychology).
