Dimapur, May 21 (MExN): Countering allegations brought up by the opposition parties, the NDPP stated, “The NPF is today drowning in its own lies.”
In a press release today, NDPP said that it was not in their nature to “involve itself in the internal matters of the opposition parties” and that it has “restrained itself from commenting on the internal turmoil between the NPF party and its Legislators” that has been making the headlines recently.
However, “as a seasoned political party as well as the oldest regional party, the NPF and its leaders should not involve themselves in child-like politics which they have displayed publicly by declaring that they will severe their ties with the BJP in Manipur after the counting to the elections is over.”
The release said it will not come as a surprise “if the NPF goes back on its decision once the BJP led NDA forms the government at the centre since the past track record of the opposition precedes them.”
Furthering countering the accusation of the opposition party of “practicing dictatorship,” it stated that conceivably their own dictatorial functioning might have blinded them “to believe every other political party to be practicing that same system of Dictatorship.”
“The NDPP is a democratic political regional party having our roots deeply imbedded in the grassroots which is our high command…And this will be the continued policy of the NDPP,” it maintained.
The party instead demanded that the opposition NPF “come with evidence on their accusation that the NDPP is practicing dictatorship.”
Further slamming NPCC and its President K Therie, the NDPP expressed amusement that NPCC had decided to “come out all guns blazing to defend the NPF.”
It instead reckoned Therie to “first reassure” themselves that their present “alliance of convenience” will still hold ground “come 23rd May when the election results are declared.”
The NDPP further slammed NPCC that if the issue of CAB strongly concerned them, it was a surprise that “none of their leaders” seem to have made any serious mention of the CAB throughout the campaign period.
The party further took a dig on NPF President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu, “it is most unfortunate that an octogenarian and one of the most seasoned and veteran politicians not only in the state but also in the North East, who instead of enjoying a comfortable retired life bereft of the nitty gritty of politics, has decided to continue to attack the ruling government and its leaders with false and misleading facts and statements.”
It countered the President’s statement, stating that he should also not hold the people to ransom on the Naga political issue. “This is an issue that is above politics and should not be politicized,” the release asserted, adding that in the past, Dr Shürhozelie “stated time and again” that he will never accept the Congress booklet authored by NPCC and Dr SC Jamir “Bedrock of Naga Society.”
The NDPP reminded that Dr Shürhozelie then, had said unless they apologize and reject the booklet, Nagas will never forgive them. “But today, he has led his party to have an alliance with the Congress and Dr SC Jamir, to the extent of his party sharing the same platform with the Congress and Jamir and himself casting his vote for the Congress.”
“History will remember all these facts…it is even more ironical that he supported and voted for KL Chishi, whom he had betrayed and backstabbed to remove him as Chief Minister in the past,” it maintained.
Putting before the people the actual facts, the NDPP maintained that history will never lie. “The NDPP will never mislead the people of Nagaland even if it means sacrificing ourselves. It is for the people to judge who is right and who is wrong; after all a political party exists because of the belief and support of the people,” it added.
