DoSE serves reminder to teachers against ‘demonstrations & strikes’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 25 (MExN): In a move that is expected to generate significant debate and polarized opinions, the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) has issued a notification drawing the attention of all employees under the DoSE, Nagaland to the Rule 25 of the Nagaland Government Servant Conduct Rules, 1968 in regard to participation in demonstrations and strikes.

The notification issued by Principal Director Thavaseelan K on September 25 reproduced the Rule 25 of the NGSCR 1968 wherein it states that “no government servant shall make any communication to the press concerning his conditions of service.”

That “government servants shall not call a public meeting for discussing their conditions of service nor shall any government servant participate in any such meeting or public discussions.”

It also states that no government servant shall engage himself or participate in any demonstration which is prejudicial to the interest of the sovereignty and integrity of India, the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign State, public order or morality or which involves contempt of Court, defamation or incitement to any offence, or resort to or in any way abet any form of strike in connection with any matter pertaining to his service or the service of any other government servant.

Violation of the above directives will be viewed seriously by the department and appropriate disciplinary action shall be initiated against erring employees, the notification has cautioned.
