Doyang land owners welcome court ruling

DIMAPUR, JUNE 10 (MExN): The Land Owners’ Union, Doyang Hydro electric Project (LOU/DHEP), has welcomed what it termed as the landmark judgment order of the High Court, Kohima Bench, in dismissing the ‘exparte interim order’ of the ADC (J) Wokha which it noted had “restrained the union’s President, O Mozamo Ngullie and his team in discharging the duties and responsibilities of the Union in contradictions to the decisions and resolutions unanimously passed by absolute majority of the executive members in the house.”

Informing of this, N Shanthungo Yanthan, Joint Secretary, LOU/DHEP stated that the High Court through an order dated May 28, 2007 had dismissed the ‘impugned order dated February 2, 2007.’ It was informed that ADC (J), Wokha through this order had authorized Wochamo Ngullie to discharge the duties and responsibilities of the LOU/DHEP by restraining O Mozamo Ngullie and his team of office bearers “which was unanimously constituted by the house.”

“The same impugned order of the learned ADC (J), Wokha was earlier stayed by the High Court thereby providing legal authority to O Mozamo Ngullie and his team to continue with the normal functioning of the union. This order of the High Court also justified the resolutions unanimously passed by 36 executives members in the present house of 45 executives,” the statement from LOU/DHEP pointed out.

The LOU/DHEP in its press note welcomed the judgment of the High Court dismissing such petition filed by an individual whose membership in the LOU/DHEP had been suspended with effect from July 23, 2006 following the vandalizing of the DHEP office on July 21, 2007, whereas, the same petition was filed only in the month of February, 2007, the LOU/DHEP Joint Secretary informed.
