DPS Dimapur retains CBSE Girls Zonal Volleyball C'ship

Delhi Public School (DPS) Dimapur U-19 girls volleyball team with their trophy.
 

Dimapur, November 2 (MExN): The Delhi Public School (DPS) Dimapur U-19 girls team has successfully defended the CBSE Girls Zonal Volleyball Championship trophy.


The championship was recently held in DPS Nazira where 25 teams from the North Eastern Region participated. 


The winning DPS team comprised of Pompi Borah, Durgeswary Rongchehonpi, Lumaren M Walling, Y M Wanshom Konyak, Kitheli X Yeptho, Teihngam Wangnao, Spriha Sharma, Pulokali Achumi and Kanikali Achumi. 


Teihngam Wangnao also won the Best Player of the tournament award, informed a press release from DPS, Dimapur. 


When asked about her experience, Wangnao nonchalantly replied that it was an easy win – tracing their success to the regular and rigorous practice sessions in the school under the supervision of the PE teaches, the release quoted her as saying. 


It further informed that the school’s athletic team also performed well in the Inter District Tournament with four athletes winning top honours. 


They were Livi Yepeka D Yeputho (1st – 400x100m), Ngamleen Chemshy Konyak (3rd –Shotput, 1st – 4x100m), Meyie-Ü Krome (1st – 4x100m, 1 Long Jump, 1st – 400m) and Nachiketa Sanasam (3rd – 4x100m). 


Among the achievers, Krome, a student of class VIII also won 1st and 2nd position in 800m and Long Jump at CBSE Nationals last year, the release informed. 


Considering the support that she has been receiving from the school and her parents, she aspires to take up sports as a profession, it added.
