Former Chief Minister and NPF President, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu today cautioned against provoking the party too far.

“We are mild people but if they provoke us too far then we may be compelled to open the files where thousands of crores liability are created,” he said, while addressing a consultative meet of his party’s central office bearers, central executive council members, central frontals & cells and divisional units and office bearers at the NPF Central Headquarters in Kohima.

While stating that the present crisis is not pleasing, he however urged party leaders to take it as blessing in disguise and as an opportunity to apply their best for the party.

Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu also called upon the party workers to communicate their views to the people in the grassroot level, while claiming that the NPF is the only party in Nagaland which stands for the Naga people.

“As leaders, we must try to understand one another. We must try to help one another,” he said adding that all are equally important for this party. Earlier, he had administered oath to 10 newly inducted NPF central office bearers.

The meeting also adopted a seven point resolution. It reposed support to the leadership of Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and expressed dismay at the “sheer and blatant disloyalty shown by few party functionaries…”

The meeting condemned the “unconstitutional, illegal and unauthorized” General Convention being organized at Dimapur, and said that those involved have the “sole intention to destroy the NPF so that they can switch over to some other political parties in the months to come.”

It also urged the Election Commission of India to treat the “so-called General Convention” as an “exercise by some frustrated former party functionaries to boost the sagging morale of their followers...”

The meeting further scoffed at the “hypocrisy of Governor PB Acharya talking about corruption in the government when he himself was one of the architects who toppled the Dr Shürhozelie headed government which was determined to curb corruption...”

It censured the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker’s move of “giving precedence” to the Whip of Chief Minister, TR Zeliang and asked the Speaker to give a time-bound ruling as specified by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on the Ground of Defection) Rules, 2003, wherein he is required to pass an order within 7 days of receipt of the reply from the respondents.

The meeting also expressed confidence in the Judiciary to “deliver justice at the earliest in the matters filed before it” and sough patience from party members regarding the court verdict.

Meanwhile, the meeting commiserated the deaths of two veteran leaders of the party, namely, Zaku Tsukru and Viyekha Apon, and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families.

Also speaking at the meeting, MLA Yitachu termed the present government as party-less and unconstitutional. “They cannot take over NPF under any circumstances,” he said.
