DIMAPUR, AUGUST 22 (MExN): The Kuhuboto Ghakhu Students’ Union (KGSU) has written to the Nagaland Sate Governor seeking his intervention with regard to the controversy surrounding the Dr T Ao Sports Award 2018 for coaches’ category. A press note from the KGSU President and General Secretary stated that Mughato Sumi, football coach at the state sports academy Dimapur was “denied the award due to manipulation and favouritism by the selection committee.” “Sports is purely result oriented and achievement based, nothing else matters; moreover, he is also a recipient of the Governor’s Medal 2015, State Coach Award 2013, Best Coach Award (National) 2008, Best Coach Award (International) 2012-14, and led the Indian U-13 team as coach in the ASEAN Youth Football Meet 2015,” it pointed out. The KGSU asked the Governor to “take this matter on top priority and bring justice, so as to curb out corruption, manipulation, favoritism and ism based which is the root of all evil among Naga society,” it added.
