Dreamz Unlimited blends a ‘wate(a)ry’ solution

Dreamz Unlimited, with its unique blend of sarcastic commentary, has once again hit bull’s eye with an incisive new video on the present ‘state of affairs’ in Nagaland.   A theatre & film production house based in Dimapur, Dreamz Unlimited (DU) is known for producing plays and videos which deal with contemporary social issues.   The video titled, ‘Watery Solution’, uploaded on DU’s Facebook page on December 20, cut a chord with its expanding fan base generating nearly 5000 views within 2 hours of posting. It is also going viral on other social medium like Whatsapp.   The video vividly captures the chain of events inflicting the present Naga society with the recent use of ‘water cannon and tear gas’ on protestors as the point of departure.   In the video, a group of young people is shown jostling for water near a tap.   Just then an old man arrives at the scene and tells them, “Why are you squabbling over water like this? Go to the main town. The government is giving plenty of water for free - not from any other sources but by fire brigade.”   Wow! Is it freely given if we simply ask for it? one enquires.   No! Never like that, the old man says, giving other reasons like - “Why teachers are not getting salary for 5-6 months? Give us our salary!” or, “Why rice meant for distribution for public are sold in the open market?” or, “Why petrol is mixed with kerosene? And so on.”   If they don’t have answer for any of these, at least, I assure you 100 %, they (government) will certainly give the water, he adds.   Thanking the old man profusely, they leave only to return haggard and drenched after a short while. Arre! Why are you retuning so early? the old man asks.   Uncle, why didn’t you told us ‘tear gases’ were also being distributed along with water, comes a choking reply from one of them.   Most recently, after the announcement of demonetisation process by the Prime Minister of India, Dreamz Unlimited had released a video entitled, The Curren(t)cy Factor on November 9, an amusing take on the impact of the process on family relations and difficulty in getting change of low denomination notes.   Another popular video in collaboration with Dimapur Traffic Police released on November 4 has raised the issue of traffic etiquette among the Nagas.   Besides performances in several platforms, currently, Dreamz Unlimited is actively involved in the Clean Election Campaign.
