Drive to ramp up student’s enrollment in govt schools under SDEO Satakha

Zunheboto, February 9 (MExN): A consultative meeting including various towns and villages level stakeholders from the education department, GBs of the area and town, student bodies, teachers etc was held at Satakha town on February 9. 

As per a DIPR report, the meeting was held ‘with the initiative of Minister for Roads & Bridges, Government of Nagaland, G Kaito Aye.’ 

During the meeting, the house adopted three resolutions for implementation. The house decided that a comprehensive enrollment drive will be initiated to encourage parents and students to enroll in their respective village government schools. ‘And, collaborative efforts of local leaders, community organisations to support the enrollment drive and to report to SDEO office with progress reports,’ it stated. 

It was resolved that ‘all teachers shall refrain from engaging in external services unless they are able to fully dedicate their time to their primary duty, which was teaching responsibilities.’ ‘The village and its council shall provide accommodation required by teachers to stay in their assigned posting village,’ it also resolved.

SDEO Satakha, David Zhimo said that the main agenda of the consultative meeting was to retrospect on declining enrollment of students and to churn out ways to raise enrollment of students in government schools of the area. 

He appealed to the teachers to always stay toe to toe to the latest teaching system by being sincere to online teaching trainings policies, it stated. 

Addressing the house, the minister’s representing official, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the minister, Hukato Murru, stressed upon the minister’s serious concerns over the deteriorating enrollment of students in most of the GPSs, GMSs and High schools in the area. 

He appealed the GBs to focus on aspects in their villages and areas to enhance enrollments of students in their respective schools for progressive development and future of schools in the Sub-division. OSD concluded by saying that, Minister conveyed his regret for not being able to be present at the meeting personally due to some unavoidable government assignment.

The programme was chaired by EBRC Coordinator, Atoli Zhimo. The meeting culminated with an interaction session.
