Kohima, May 1 (MExN): With extreme dry phases witnessed over the past few weeks, the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) today urged the general public and consumers in Nagaland state capital Kohima for cooperation and bear with the acute water scarcity.
The Executive Engineer of PHED Urban Division Kohima, in a statement, highlighted that the city relies on spring sources for water, which are recharged solely through the natural hydrological cycle.
However, these sources have been adversely affected by changing climatic patterns, severely impacting the water supply, it said. The statement, as per the State DIPR, assured that the division would continue its efforts to serve the public to the best of its abilities and appealed for constant support from citizens to manage the water shortage effectively and benefit all stakeholders.
