DSP clarifies on April 23 incident

DIMAPUR, APRIL 23 (MExN): The Deputy Superintended of Police and PRO, Kohima in a press note have issue a note clarifying news reports dated April 23 that an oil tanker driver was abducted from Khuzama. The note clarified that on April 21, a convoy of 115 oil tankers bound for Imphal were escorted by personnel of B/78Bn of the CRPF, whereby obe oil tanker B.R No. MN02/6268 which was in Serial No. 43 out of the 115 was found parked near the NST garage (Lerie Colony) Kohima. 

It was stated that the convoy escort commander coming up in the rear noticed the vehicle without a driver and handyman. As such, he immediately detailed his personnel to secure the vehicle. However, the note informed that after a lapse of about four hours the driver and the handyman failed to turn up and the matter was reported to the police.

The note said that the police immediately placed the vehicle undr custody. The police are still in the process of investigating the abduction case. The note also mentioned that the convoy escort security consists of one front escort, one middle escort and two rear escorts detailed by the B/78 Bn of the CRPF.
