DTP Peren declares CHC Jalukie as COVID-19 Hospital

In a repeat of Tuensang gaffe, a returnee from Peren test positive for COVID-19 after reaching home district without test result

Peren, June 4 (MExN): Following the report of a COVID-19 positive case entering the district, an emergency meeting of the District Task Force Peren along with Joint Action Committee (JAC) on COVID-19 on June 4 has declared CHC Jalukie as a COVID Hospital.

In a repeat of Tuensang gaffe, a returnee was reportedly shifted to Peren before the receiving sample test result. The sample thereafter returned positive for COVID-19.

Consequently, the emergency meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Peren was held  at Customary Court, ADC Office Jalukie to assess the unfolding situation.

Accordingly, the JNV quarantine facility 1 block (A & B), GMS Sector (A) Jalukie, where the returnees were lodged initially, has now been declared a ‘containment’ zone, a DIPR report stated.

The Peren College, further, has been activated as lodging for returnees from June 5.

The meeting also decided that with the declaration Community Health Centre (CHC), Jalukie as a COVID Hospital, the AINE Nursing Home has been identified to cater all non COVID-19 patients from June 5.

It also decided that all activities would proceed as per Standard operating procedure (SOP) and ICMR results of all the returnees who were tested from Dimapur should be shared with the DTF and Liaison Officers in order to avoid future ‘mistakes,’ the report said.
