A press release issued by PWD colony Panchayat chairman Ketsodil Neikha stated that the sanitation vehicle was bought from donation money contributed by the residents of PWD colony. The vehicle will be used solely for disposal of garbage/wastes. The use of the vehicle for other purposes has been strictly prohibited, and defaulters will be penalized. The colony has been informed that no building waste material will be lifted by the vehicle, whatsoever may be the case. “Waste /garbage should be packed in any manner while disposing wastes. Lose wastes/garbage shall not be accepted.”
The Panchayat also informed that throwing wastes into drainage or dumping waste/garbage in random manner has been prohibited, while warning that defaulters will be penalized by Sector Council concerned.
Further, it stated that sanitation fee of Rs. 50 per kitchen per month will be collected by the respective sector council as per notification issued by Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) earlier this year. The Panchayat said that any one failing to pay sanitation fee will be disassociated from the sector council concerned.
Meanwhile, PWD Colony Panchayat and sanitation committee thanked all the donors for their generosity. It also extended special thanks to Engineer-in-Chief PWD Nagaland and his subordinate officers for their generous contribution and Dr. Kevichiisa, convenor Sanitation Committee “under whose initiative and vision this project became a reality.”
