IMPHAL, May 4 (NNN): The Liangmai Naga Council (LNC) has sounded an alert that cattle are dying at Makui area along IT Road due to mysterious disease. According to the LNC, number of buffaloes and cows have died due to mysterious disease at Makui village and its vicinity. The LNC wonders whether it could be due to water scarcity problem in the area. The LNC has appealed the authority concerned to put its attention on the matter.
Meanwhile, the Liangmai tribe body said the work along the IT Road (Imphal-Tamenglong Road via Kangpokpi and Tamei) has not been done up to the mark. It urged the authority concerned to carry out the repairing work of IT Road by maintaining a work standard. It said in several portions of the road, it is still in deplorable condition even after the repairing work is said to have been done.
Regarding the Bailey bridge across Barak at Dikiuram and Katang under Tamei subdivision, the LNC said work has been going on for several years now, but it has not been completed. The LNC urged the authority concerned to hand over the bridge to the public as soon as possible.
It then said the allegation against the Dikiuram chairman by certain people related to Barak Bridge is baseless and unfounded. Certain person had lodged a police complaint that the chairman of Dikiuram had stolen some parts of the bridge. "We investigated physically and found the allegation untrue and unfounded," the LNC stated.
The Liangmai body then urged the government to address the drinking water woes in Tamei and Tousem subdivisions.
