As per the release, Mvudzeviu Shuya (Scientist B Nagaland Pollution Control Board) shared about the growing use of electronic gadgets and the menace of e-waste. She also highlighted its impact on the environment and human health and called upon the students to spread awareness of the need to discard the e-waste through authorized agencies like e-circle so that e-waste can be discarded in a scientific and environment-friendly way.

Dr Kinitoli shared a word of encouragement and appreciation to staffs and students of the Department of Political Science and founder of e-Circle enterprise for collaborating to spread awareness regarding e-waste management.
The release stated that Bendangwala Walling, as the resource person, shared the meaning of e-waste and its types.

She also pointed out that 1.5 billion smartphones are being sold every year, however; only less than 20% of the waste phones are being recycled. Stating that it is a worrying issue, she said that in the case of Nagaland, 1148 tons (approximate) of e-waste is generated and makeup 70% of toxic waste.

She highlighted that most of the e-waste is being sold to kabariwala because of the good price they offer, however, the negative side is that they do not discard the e-waste in a scientific manner which, in the end, harms the environment and affects every one of us.

Finally, she highlighted the work the e-circle had been doing after its establishment in 2018. It has collected and disposed of 50 tons (50000 kg) of e-waste (through Hulladek Recycling Pvt Ltd) and conducted 70+ awareness programs in Nagaland. At present, they are connected with 12 educational institutions and 35 churches.

This was followed up by a question and answer session where the staff and the students put essential questions about e-waste. After that, Shuya, in the presence of the Dean of Academics, HoD, and the students installed the e-waste bin. The talk ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Achanger, HoD Department of Political Science, the release stated.
