In one of the first within the Naga music circle, Naga artists will be collaborating for a common environmental cause in a music video ‘Contemplation’ to be released on June 5, World Environment Day. The collaborating venture is part of a project called ‘Creation Care’ initiated by the Powerfaith Ministry, a ministry focusing on positively impacting the young through music.

The song ‘Contemplation’, an original by the Powerfaith band will feature 11 artists besides the Powerfaith band of the Powerfaith ministry namely Nash Longkumer (UDX), Bendangmoa and Mar Jamir from the Polar Lights, Obed Kath of Divine Connection, Alobo Naga, Imtisenla from Powerfaith, Tali Angh, Mengu Suokhrie, and Mhaseve Tetseo, Mercy Tetseo and Kuvelu Tetseo from Tetseo Sisters. The project is also supported by the Incessant Welfare Society Nagaland (IWSN). The video will be released on Youtube on June 5.

Creation Care

The key objective of the project ‘Creation Care’ is to help people grasp the importance of acquiring a set of values for environmental protection, to appreciate nature and love mother earth. The project also attempts to enable the understanding that each individual has a role to play in protecting and nurturing the environment.

Addressing a press conference on May 30 at Symphony Café, Kohima, members of the ministry stated that the increasing deplorable environment in Nagaland has been a major concern for the ministry which attempts to work towards the holistic approach of impacting change in Naga society. “Our ministry is mostly to do with music. We wanted to do something through our perspectives as musicians,” said member Lipokzulu adding that the ministry hopes to spread the awareness of environmental protection through the music video.

“We are collaborating with the best artists in our state. Hopefully through this music video, we will be able to impact our young minds. We don’t want to make something in a big way but make small efforts and instill small changes,” added Lipokzulu.

Thus for the Powerfaith ministry, the project is a modest effort to present issues and problems related to the intentional and unintentional impact of humans’ action towards deterioration of the environment.   Member Sentiyapang further stressed on the holistic approach of any ministry which must go beyond church activities and work towards social impacts. “Our main target is to work on small projects in sensitizing people on environmental concerns. We are focusing on a holistic approach on life where there are other ways to contribute to society not just in the spiritual but other social aspects,” stated Sentiyapang.

The project intends to provide the idea of how small steps can be taken everyday toward caring the environment can have a huge impact in curbing the issue on environment deterioration. The project hopes to develop results on civilizing people in the use and abuse of surroundings, building earth stewardship concept, acceptance of recycling ideas, stewardship of public lands, and imbibing minimalism in people’s lifestyles.
