Tuensang, September 20 (MExN): Apropos the news item published in local dailies with regard to the Yimchungrü Akherü Arihako (YAA) ultimatum to the Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) in connection with the construction of Aghunato-Shamator Road under NLCPR, the joint Students’ Union of Huker village and K. Iponger village under whose jurisdiction the above stated road lies, have issued a press statement in “strong support” of the YAA.
“Whereas the Ministry of DONER, Govt. of India has approved for construction of road 20km in length from Aghunato to Shamator under NLCPR, the construction firm (M.B. Panesars & Sons Pvt.Ltd) has not finished the construction of the road as approved by DONER Ministry (i.e. 20Kms) and also as per the terms and conditions of work allotment Order issued by PWD (R&B) (i.e., Black topping)” stated the release from Huker Village Students’ Union Executive Chairman C. Laji and K. Iponger Village Students’ Union President C. Chipong.
However, “despite the incomplete work and poor workmanship of the construction firm, we are much dismayed by the fact that the Department concerned have issued completion record of the construction and almost 95% of the fund has been drawn against the said work.”
The joint Students’ Union have demanded the “immediate resumption of the work to finish the incomplete work as per the work order and fund approved by the DONER Ministry, including black-topping works from 0-20 km, and also initiate necessary disciplinary actions against those supervising officers involved in manipulation and issuing of false completion/utilization certification without proper verification.”
The bodies have stated that “failure to comply with the above demands, the joint Students Unions would be compelled to take its own course of action until justice is delivered, and the Unions would not be held responsible for any consequences.”
