‘Echoing voices of the Nagas’

St Joseph University hosts folk song competition

 

Dimapur, August 4 (MExN): The Department of History, St Joseph University (SJU) organised a folk song competition on the theme ‘Echoing voices of the Nagas’ at university auditorium on August 3. 

Altogether, 66 students from both UG III semester and UG V semester participated in the event. The songs Sulimi Lejo Le, Ahuna, and Chaga gadi Lui were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The judges were Dr Avinuo Chupuo, Dr Lanuchila Changkiri, Khekato Zhimo, and Imkongsenla (Assistant professors, Department of History).

Earlier, K Hokato Sumi, Assistant professor, Department of  History spoke on the importance of folk songs and encouraged the students to value the rich folk culture, history, and unite in its preservation as it is an inevitable part of  Naga culture and tradition. The programme was attended by 200 students and faculties.
