ECI has already passed verdict: Shürhozelie-led NPF

Kohima, October 24 (MExN): Continuing the tussle between the rival groups of NPF over the Election Commission of India (ECI) order issued on October 17, 2017, the Shürhozelie-led Naga People’s Front (NPF) today stated that the verdict has already been passed and the other NPF group cannot ask to give a favourable verdict at the earliest.

A statement from Media & Press Bureau, NPF Central Headquarters said that the ECI had asked the party to settle their matter by convening a General Convention and letting the Active members present and voting decide the issue. However, the Press & Information Cell of Rio-led NPF issued a statement expressing its hope that the ECI would give its verdict at the earliest, it added.

The ECI, Shürhozelie-led NPF stated, was conspicuously silent about the General Convention of September 20, 2017, held in Dimapur by the rival group, “which goes to show that suspended members of a political party are not competent to convene a General Convention of the party from which they have been suspended or expelled.”

Further, it informed that as per the ECI directions, party President Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu has already notified the date, time and venue of the General Convention of the NPF party.
