ECI order to settle internal imbroglio has vindicated party’s stance: Shürho-led NPF

Kohima, October 18 (MExN): The Shürhozelie-led Naga People’s Front (NPF) today maintained that the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) order dated October 17, 2017, directing the NPF to settle the internal imbroglio through a General Convention like it was done in April 2015, has shattered the “fantastic claim of the imposters that Neiphiu Rio is the President of the NPF.”

The very fact that the ECI did not take cognizance of the "so-called" General Convention of September 20, 2017 in Dimapur has vindicated the stance of the NPF that the September 20 “get-together” was “unauthorized, unconstitutional and illegal,” asserted a press release from Media & Press Bureau, NPF Central Headquarters.

“Indeed, the Order of the ECI is in itself proof enough that the imposters are not legally competent to call for a General Convention of the NPF party, or else the ECI would have deemed the September 20 Get-together as valid and legitimate since it was claimed that more than thirty thousand people attended the function,” it added.

“However, what these claimants did not consider was that there are only a little above nine thousand people enrolled as Active Members of the NPF, and herding together tens of thousands of people from neighbouring State and localities through inducements, does not amount to anything since only enrolled members of the party have a say in the affairs of the party.”

The Shürhozelie-led NPF affirmed that it will continue to adhere to the Constitution of the party and meticulously follow the directions of the Election Commission of India.

“We do not have an iota of doubt the law shall prevail. And like the instant case, the issue of the Whip, which is now in the Court of law, shall also be decided sooner or later and our stand shall be justified,” the release said.

Meanwhile, it cautioned the “erring” MLAs that the sooner they mend their ways the better it would be for them.

“…it has been made very clear that subterfuge, power and money cannot purchase legality. And no amount of deception can fool the law,” it added.
