Kohima, January 10 (MExN): Chief Electoral Officer, V Shashan kShekhar, IAS held a meeting with representatives from various political parties for ECI’s visit to Nagaland and forthcoming general election on January 9 at his Office Chamber, Kohima.
A DIPR report stated that briefing on ECI’s visit, the CEO informed that the Commission will be visiting the State from January 13 to 15 to meet all the recognised political parties and would be interacting with the senior officers of the State Government including Chief Secretary, DGP, and also reviewing the poll preparedness with all DCs, SPs, Enforcement Agencies, both State and Central.
He also mentioned that the state level training and many preparations have been going on for the last couple of months and the Commission has deployed 50 CAPF Companies in advance and some more would be arriving shortly.
The CEO hopes that the citizens will provide all information to the various Government, Central and State including Enforcement Agencies to ensure a free and fair poll. He asserted that election must be conducted like a festive atmosphere and appealed to everyone to come together for free and fair election, with no violence and no occurrence of re-poll.
