Edu honours suspended at Wangkhao College

ENCSU demands immediately clarification from Government

Mon, May 29 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland College Students' Union (ENCSU) has strongly opposed and expressed resentment to the decision of the College authority for suspending the Education honours course at Wangkhao College under Mon District.

“Instead of emphasizing more on implementation and supplementation of new facilities to the institution, how has the College's authority suspended the ongoing Education Honours which had been implemented since a decade ago,” inquired ENCSU President, M Longre Chang and General Secretary, Wang Nei C. Jessuhu in a press release.

The Union said the College authority notified that Honours course in Education cannot be offered for the current session in Government Wangkhao College Mon due to “shortage of teaching faculty in the department of Education subject.” The students expressed shock that this is first time ever in Nagaland that Education Honours paper has been cut off in the middle of course.

The ENCSU while expressing extreme disappointment on the notification mentioned that this kind of system will directly affect the student’s career.

Holding the government and the Department of Higher Education accountable for the action, the ENCSU question them that on what ground the college authority has directed the notification and why has the Government fail to appoint sufficient lecture at Wangkhao College? It also stated that “an immediate clarification is needed” for taking such decision.

The ENCSU further ask the state Government and the Department of Higher Education to look into the matter immediately before the students resume the classes. “If any problem arise with the students, the state Government will be held solely responsible,” it also added.

Moreover, it also demanded the state Government to take action against those professors of colleges in eastern areas attached in other colleges or offices. It reminded that the Union had already submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner Secretary of Higher & Technical Education, address the issue and send back the professors to their respective posted place. Regarding the attachment of professors, the ENCSU also mentioned that politicians should not appoint or attach professors or lecture once they are appointed as per the state guidelines.

It appealed to the Government to immediately check and streamline the attachment professors in eastern jurisdiction to their respective posted department.
