DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 19 (MExN): The Department of Education, St Joseph's College (A) Jakhama celebrated 'Education Day' cum 10th year anniversary at the college indoor stadium with Dr Medongoyi Rhakho, Deputy Director (Academic), Higher Education, Govt. of Nagaland as the guest speaker on November 18.

Dr Rhakho in his speech encouraged the students to work hard and be productive in their own way. He said the future is going to be very challenging as land and resources will not be considered as wealth, with the advancement of Artificial intelligence that is going to replace millions of jobs in the next few years. He also encouraged the students’ community to do their duties first before demanding things to be done from others.

Kezienguno, HoD of Education, in her welcome note spoke on the inception of Education Department in the college in 2013 with 32 students and one faculty. The department has produced eight batches with more than 600 graduates during the last 10 years of it's existence. The department also produced 20 rank holders over the years when it was still under Nagaland University.

Sangroshi of BA 3rd semester chaired the formal session; Sr Aniamma Joseph, CMC Counsellor led the invocation while vote of thanks was delivered by Michael Patton of BA 5th semester.

The informal session saw students taking part in various competitions such as painting, essay, photography, extempore speech, Mr and Miss Educationist etc. It was also attended by the and former teachers of the department. Imkongsanen of BA I Sem and RaluYhobu of BA I Sem were adjudged as Mister and Miss Educationist 2023 respectively.
