
KOHIMA, SEPT 15 (MExN): One Vikiho, arrested for being involved in bogus appointments in the Education Department, has disclosed that retired Director of School Education A.S. Rengma had signed about 40 bogus appointment letters. Vikiho was arrested along with his wife Lucy, who works in the Town Planner’s office, Kohima.
The accused said this during questioning by Police today. He said that he got people seeking jobs and Rengma signed their letters of appointments for a price. Certain documents relating to the case have been recovered. A diary with details about the transactions has also been seized.
All cases occurred in 2004. Vikiho is a teacher attached to the Directorate of Education in Kohima and was involved in recruiting teachers from Longleng district.
According to a reliable source, there was a court hearing related to the case today. A teacher who was appointed on bogus, after paying a certain amount of money as bribe to Rengma was terminated from service abruptly and as such had addressed his grievances. However, the retired Director failed to show up at the hearing citing ill health.
