Effect of child kidnapper rumour felt in Kohima

The rumour about supposed child kidnappers prowling was also felt in Kohima. On September 29, two persons were handed over to the police after they were apprehended on suspicion by villagers in Kezoma.  As per the Kohima police, the two unnamed individuals were seen loitering around the vicinity of the village, rousing suspicion. They reportedly tried to flee when the villagers approached them, further fueling suspicion, Additional SP, Kohima, Vitoshe Sumi, told The Morung Express.   While stating that there has been no report/case of child lifting in the district, the ASP said that the two persons were placed into police custody and effort was on to ascertain their antecedents and how they reached the village. Pending this, no charges have been filed.
