Election activities, trainings in full swing across Nagaland

Dimapur, February 3 (MExN): Various election related activities including training of polling personnel, election expenditure monitoring teams, accounting teams, etc., are being conducted held in several districts of the poll bound state of Nagaland, according to a DIPR report received here on Friday.

Mon District: As per the report, the first round of training for presiding officer, first, second and third polling officers personnel was held on February 3, during which Mon Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Ajit Kumar Verma, gave a briefing on the roles and responsibilities of the Polling Officers. He also urged them to work with dedication as a team for the successful conduct of the Election.

The DC and DEO also issued a public notice directing all the employees who have been drafted for election duty that Form 12 (application for postal ballot) can be collect from the Postal Ballot Cell, set up at the Office of DC & DEO, with effect from February 6.

The assigned Form 12 should be submitted on or before February 10 along with the photocopy of appointment letter and EPIC Card. In case of non-availability of EPIC Card any identification document approved by the commission may be submitted, it said. The documents include Aadhaar card; MGNERGA Job Card; Passbooks with photographs issued by the Bank/Post Office; Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the Scheme of Ministry of Labour; Driving Licence; PAN Card; Smart Card issued by RGI under BPR; Indian Passport; Pension document with photograph; Service Identity Cards with photograph issued to employees by Central/ State Government/PSUs/Public Limited Companies; Official Identity Cards issued to MPs/MLA/MLCs, and Unique Disability ID (UDID) Card, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

The Mon District Medical Board also examined the cases seeking exemption from Election duty on medical grounds, on February 2. 

Zunheboto District: The final election expenditure monitoring training before the polls was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Zunheboto on February 3 during which the Zunheboto DC and DEO, Rahul Bhanudas Mali briefed the officials. The DC said that the officials should perform their duties as instructed by the Election Commission of India and ensure proper monitoring. 

The training was attended by video surveillance teams, video viewing teams, accounting teams, media certification and monitoring committees, flying squads, and static surveillance teams.

Meanwhile, the DC and DEO notified all the private vehicle owners and drivers under Zunheboto District whose vehicles have been requisitioned for the Election to report at 10:00 AM at Local Ground, Zunheboto on February 6, along with vehicle documents and Requisition Order (Original) and collect Form 12 (Postal Ballot).

Failure to comply with this order, strict action shall be initiated against the vehicle owners/drivers and shall be booked under relevant Sections of the law, it added.

Wokha District:  Similarly, Training for EEM teams, accounting team including AEO, video viewing team, and video surveillance team for the assembly constituencies under Wokha district was held on Friday.

Briefing the team members, DC & DEO, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan urged all polling personnel and team members to be attentive during the training session so that they can perform their assigned duties effectively. He also said the training process for the election will be a continuous process to ensure that personnel are well-equipped and trained for the smooth conduct of the election. He also reminded them of their roles and urged them to shoulder responsibilities sincerely.

EAC Changpang and Nodal Officer EEM, Nuhuta Tunyi interacted with the members of the various team and said, that training programmes are an important part of the election process. He appealed to the trainees to take the training seriously in order to avoid confusion while executing their assignments during the election.

Peren District: In connection with the upcoming elections, Peren DC and DEO, Vineet Kumar has notified all the citizens of Peren district that the toll-free number 1950 is active. Any query relating to Election related matters may be enquired by dialing the toll-free number 1950 which is operable 24x7. 

The DC and DEO also informed all concerned that the first randomization of EVMs & VVPATs is scheduled on February 4, 10:00 am at the Old DC Office, Peren Town. All concerned have been requested to attend the same positively.

Kiphire District: The Media Certificate & Monitoring Committee and Social Media Teams meeting for Kiphire district was conducted at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Friday.

DC and Returning Officer Wati Aier highlighted the roles and activities of MCMC and Social Media Teams during the forthcoming general election in the state, the DIPR report stated. He also said that members should not involve in paid news, and all intending candidates are to take permission from MCMC for any information to be printed in electronic media. He also said that printing press owners to give their names, and address printed on all pamphlets, posters, and banners.

Tuensang District: In Tuensang too, DC and DEO Nokchasashi briefed the MCMC members on the certification of the politically related press items. The members were briefed on the certification of the politically related press items. He also asked the members to supervise news channels and to review the do’s and don’ts regarding the MCMC committee guidelines. 

Chozuba: The ECI Observer for the Assembly election, Ajay Dhoke also met the election officials of the 18 Chozuba AC at Chozuba GA Rest House on February 2 and instructed the officials to file authentic reports during an interaction.
ADC & Returning Officer, Imokokla informed that different teams have been formed as per the ECI guidelines.

Kohima District: Meanwhile, a bicycle rally under the banner of the SVEEP Campaign, Kohima district, will be held on February 4. Kohima DC, Shanavas C, will flag off the rally which will begin at 7:00 am from Dc Office to Raj Bhavan.

Pastor Khrieneiu Metha Peniel, CRC, Billy Graham Road will pronounce the prayer. All willing participants have been invited to join the rally which is organised by the Office of DC & DEO Kohima.

On Friday, district level training for polling personnel were held in Dimapur, Phek and Noklak districts; training and demonstration of handling of EVMs, VVPATs and sealing for second and third polling officers in Mokokchung; as well as intra department meeting with all DPROs at the IPR Citadel, Kohima were held, the DIPR stated.
