
LBA organises consultation programme on clean election
Dimapur, February 8 (MExN): Going in line with the NBCC Clean Election Campaign, Liangmai Baptist Association (LBA) organized a consultation programme on clean election with church leaders, village council leaders, NGOs, Government administration and political parties under 6th Tening A/C on February 7 at Tening Town.
A press note received here stated that NBCC Officials including Directors, NMM and NDO present in the meeting emphasized on the fact that election in Nagaland has become a spiritual issue. They briefed the gathering on the history and objectives of the Clean Election Campaign and encouraged all members of Naga society to strictly adhere to the model code of conduct given by the Election Commission and the guidelines issued by NBCC Clean Election Campaign. Further, they explained that only a clean election can provide a clean government and a clean government would bring development and progress in Nagaland. Thus, they appeal every individual to make personal commitment to honour the guidelines for a free and fair election. They also stated that this clean election campaign is not just for the upcoming general election but also for all kinds of election in the state.
Copies of model code of conducts and guidelines were made available to the members present in the meeting, and the members also share their views and express their hope for the said campaign. The meeting also finalized the programme to organise a “Common Platform” at Tening town.
LBA Clean Election Core Group Chairman Ngulie Rentta chaired the meeting. SDO Civil, Tening in his speech emphasized on the code of conduct during elections. He strongly stressed on tampering of age for a onetime gain would spoil the entire future of the children. He lauded the people of Tening for their support to this campaign and express hope that this constituency can be a model to the Nagas in general.
